This workshop aims to foster cross-disciplinary exchange on the green transition in household energy. Bringing together experts from philosophy, sociology, and energy engineering, it will explore recent developments in sustainable household energy systems and examine ways of actively involving citizens in this transformation.
There are multiple approaches to integrating citizens into decision-making processes related to household energy production. Energy communities constitute one such approach. In other cases, citizen participation in deliberative processes is crucial for ensuring the legitimacy of decisions and fostering a sense of ownership among those affected.
The workshop’s special guest is Dr. Martin Kowarsch, an experienced researcher and practitioner in the field of deliberative processes for energy transition. Dr. Kowarsch is Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Culture and Communication at Aalborg University. He previously headed the Ethics and Policy Group at the Mercator Research Institute on Climate Change and Global Commons (MCC) in Berlin and is now CEO of Civilog, a company that provides consultancy to organizations, researchers, and policymakers on deliberative processes related to the energy transition and other aspects of the green transition (https://civilog.de/ueber-civilog/).
The workshop will feature short presentations by the invited participants, followed by ample time for discussion and exploration of possibilities for future collaboration.
